It was ten years ago last week that I sat down at a restaurant in San Diego with a group of east coast folks whom I had just met – there were photogs and hair stylists and makeup artists amongst us and we had all just stepped off of long plane rides. I don’t remember much more about the lunch other than it was warm, I was excited to be in California and the girl who sat across from me touched every damn piece of bread in the communal bread basket as soon as it was placed on the table. That brazen bread grabber was makeup artist, Fawn Monique. I sarcastically quipped at her about the situation and an instant friendship was born.
Fawn and I stayed in touch upon our return to the east coast and even worked together a bit over the next couple years, but somehow ultimately fell out of touch with each other. That is until last month. A random text sparked a conversation and within a few days plans were set into motion to paint some faces and make some images. The following is a result of an afternoon in the studio along with hair and makeup artist Marina Christine and models, Katherine and Chelsea.
